Blackbird, Blackbird

And so this is a series about an elderly British gentleman, perhaps an amateur ornithologist who is sitting in a London park on a bench with a knotted handerkerchief sun hat, his thermos of tea and sandwiches watching and charting a flock of blackbirds and making notes, sketches and photographs at various times. There are 14 so far including one where they have all disappeared.

The edition is based on my grandfather, James Saxby, A kind and generous Yorkshire man, enthusiast, RAF meteorologist, mathematician, amateur naturalist, baker of magnificent madeleines, linguist and so much more. He was an encyclopedia of a human who wrote his best friend entire correspondances consisting solely of numbers and formulas, mathematical conversations plotting the universe, a quantam mechanics of sorts.
